Inquiry how female athletes use the social network Instagram: A qualitative study

Abstract
The aim of this study was to Inquiry how female athletes use social networks. The method of this study was qualitative and the research approach was inductive and with the Brown and Clark thematic analysis method. The statistical population of the present study included all Iranian female athletes who have posted images and content related to sports and their field of expertise on their social network accounts. The statistical sample was selected according to the researcher's theoretical saturation and finally 13 people were interviewed and to ensure data saturation, 3 more interviews were collected after the 13th interview. The validity and reliability of the interviews were examined and approved by the interviewees and for reliability, Scott's intra-subject agreement percentage method was used, which had high reliability in the coding. For data analysis, the coding method was used in three stages: primary coding, subtheme, and theme. NVivo software version 10 was used to categorize the research data. The findings included five themes: gender discrimination, health achievements, showcasing success through the media, scientific-communication achievements, and marketing. The results showed that Iranian women have received less attention from official media in sports news and reports, and sports news has covered women's news less. This issue can create exactly the same motivation for women to engage in activity and the possibility of transformation and success in social networks.
