Abstract
The purpose of the research was to investigate the effect of leisure time based on physical activities on social adaptation with the mediating role of increasing self-esteem of female teachers in Tehran. The statistical population was female teachers in Tehran, and the sample size was determined based on Cohen's method of 281 people, after collecting questionnaires and removing incomplete questionnaires, the data of 266 questionnaires were analyzed. The sampling method was also done in a simple random way. The measurement tools were standard questionnaires, and three types of content validity, convergent validity, and divergent validity were used to confirm the validity of the measurement tools, and all three types of validity were confirmed. Also, to determine the reliability of the questionnaires, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the leisure time questionnaire was 0.83, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the social adjustment questionnaire was 0.87, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the self-esteem questionnaire was reported as 0.76. Structural equation model was used to analyze the research hypotheses using SPSS19 and AMOS23 software. The results of the research showed that leisure time based on physical activities has a positive and significant effect on social adaptation, leisure time based on increasing self-esteem and increasing self-esteem has a positive and significant effect on social adaptation, and the mediator of self-esteem in the effect of leisure time based on physical activities on social adaptation is a partial mediator.
