Abstract

Objective: This study aims to thoroughly explore the nuanced relationship between fandom and gender, utilizing Giddens's theory as a conceptual framework.

Methodology: Employing an exploratory qualitative approach, this research adopts thematic analysis as its principal methodological tool. Purposeful sampling was employed due to the dispersed and unclear access to participants. Data collected from interviews were meticulously analyzed using thematic analysis, allowing for a nuanced understanding of the subject matter.

Results: This research's findings unveil four dominant categories: structure, institution, rules of signification, and resources. Within these categories, several themes emerged, including the genesis of football fandom, the role of fan education, the delineation of fan responsibilities within the profession, and the intricate aspects of football culture.

Conclusion: This study contributes to the existing literature by comprehensively analyzing the complex interplay between fandom and gender dynamics within the context of Giddens's theory. The insights gained from this research have implications for understanding and addressing the multifaceted nature of fandom and gender in sports culture.
