Abstract
Abstract

**Background and Purpose:** The present study aimed to investigate the effect of core stability training on motor performance and Functional Movement Screening (FMS) scores in female students with varying Body Mass Index (BMI).

**Methodology:** In this study, 45 women participated as subjects and were divided into three groups: control (n=15), normal-weight experimental (n=15), and overweight experimental (n=15). Overweight status was determined using the BMI formula. The primary outcome was motor performance, which was assessed using the Y-Balance Test (YBT) device.

**Results:** The results of the mixed-model ANOVA indicated that after performing core stability training, there was a significant difference in FMS variables and motor performance among the control, normal-weight, and overweight groups ($p < 0.05$). Furthermore, Bonferroni post-hoc test results showed a significant difference between the overweight and normal-weight groups in both FMS and performance variables between the pre-test and post-test ($p < 0.05$), indicating a significant impact of core stability training. On the other hand, no significant statistical changes were observed in the control group.

**Conclusion:** According to the results of the present study, eight weeks of core stability training interventions improved motor performance (with a high effect size) and FMS scores (with a high effect size) in subjects with normal weight and overweight.*Keywords:** Exercise, Physical Performance,
